Christmas… The Real Deal

(“I wondered if I would get that familiar Christmas spirit this year, and then I saw this video on Facebook! It reminded me how a humble God, came and was born into the masses. That many failed to recognize Him, but the tired and worn out did not miss it, they stopped what they were doing and worshipped him. That night was the humblest of humble beginnings for the most magnificent of magnificent endings, which by the way we still await! BUT at both, the people fall on their knees and worship the King” ~ Thee Bloomin Idiot 2012)

“5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[b] being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

~ Phillipians 2:5-11

Christmas time is here. And I’m whooped! We’ve been moving into our house the past week and a half. We’ve gone shopping in spare moments from the unpacking of boxes, painting of walls, placing of new flooring, positioning of furniture, repositioning of furniture and final placement of furnture!

Oh yeah not to mention our jobs! Yep, I’m tired.

Because of all that, even though I’d enjoyed several Christmas concerts, I was lagging behind in the Christmas spirit! Too tired for Christmas? Is that allowed?

I wonder about the 1st Christmas? How tired was Mary? Prego, riding a donkey 99.2 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem (I mapquested it)!!! Really?? How many of you ladies would be up for that?

Joseph? He had a pregnant wife, very late in her pregnancy, taking up on a 100 mile journey, with no Emergicare centers along the way? Or maybe someone told him to take his wife on a bumpy ride to induce labor? Whatever the case, when he gets to where he was going he couldn’t book a room at a hotel! No Price Line Negotiator!

Giving birth in a barn. Among the animals and the aromas and the mess? Was it cold? Alone? Scared? A father helping his wife give birth, no doctor?!?

This is the way it started, tired, scared, burdened people, down on their luck, and Life comes from that. The way,the truth, and the life! In that darkness, of perhaps despair, comes The Light of The World!

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. ~ John 1:9

They were tired, we are tired, and that same light is here for us to see, as it was seen that first Christmas. That light resides in perhaps the most unlikely places, just like it did that 1st Christmas!

He humbled himself, and was born into this world as a baby in a manger (animals feeding trough). Yet he was praised even there, by the most unlikely, the shepherds.

I am rejuvenated today because of the humility of the baby Christ, and the fact that the humble and down trodden were among the first privileged enough to worship him!

I wondered if I would get that familiar Christmas spirit this year, and then I saw this video on Facebook! It reminded me how a humble God, came and was born into the masses. That many failed to recognize Him, but the tired and worn out did not miss it, they stopped what they were doing and worshipped him. That night was the humblest of humble beginnings for the most magnificent of magnificent endings, which by the way we still await! BUT at both, the people fall on their knees and worship the King

Thought to ponder as you sojourn today: Simple songs sung in a mall deliver a startling message, if you were there at the mall, would you have stopped and taken the time to worship the king?

Enjoy this video, where this year, I was reminded of The Light Of The World, in the most unlikely places! Have a Merry Christmas!
